Looking Ahead
I have a few workshops lined up to kickstart the New Year. Starting with two dried flower workshops on January 22nd making either a dried flower wall wreath in the morning or flower clouds in the afternoon! This is probably the most cost effective way of people getting hands on a huge variety of dried flowers. I’ll tell you something for nothing though, they’ll be peeling their own honesty! A time consuming task which I’ve spent hours on already.
I am so excited to meet the 2023 Seed to Vase cohort in February. We’ll hit the ground running in the first session with a bit of seed sowing (although I encourage people to hold back for a month or so) and after the first session they’ll be going home with a starter kit of useful equipment and plants/seedlings. I love the friendships that evolve during the course and which continue long after. There are a couple of places still left and it would be lovely to have a full complement of people learning, in a very hands-on way, how to grow their own flowers for cutting in their gardens.
Anyone that has been to the garden is usually quite impressed with my hazel and willow sweet pea arch. My willow weaving skills were first acquired from attending a willow weaving course by Norah Kennedy. I loved it so much, and have booked Norah for a Willow Garden Structures workshop at Coaley village hall on February 19th. She’ll come with a pile of willow, her 30 years of willow weaving knowledge and people can choose what to make from willow wigwams, trellising, hurdles, plant supports, bird feeders and much much more. As well as plenty of handouts to keep and use in the future. I for one can’t wait!
The first tranche of garden to vase workshops are also in the diary and bookable online and garden tour dates will follow in the New Year.
